Kolkata is the largest city in the state of West Bengal. The
city is surrounded by a number of important places that are located
in its vicinity. River Hooghly exists as the dividing line and
separates the city from the western regions. Kolkata is situated on
the eastern banks of the city and opposite to what is called as its

the river. The Vidya Sagar Setu (towards the east), Howrah Bridge
(from the city center) and Vivekananda Bridge (towards the north)
connects the Kolkata city with Howrah. The North 24 and South 24
Parganas lie in the north-eastern and southern side of the city.
Hugli, one more important district around Kolkata lies further
north-west of Howrah. Right in the vicinity of Hugli is one more
important place called Nadia.
Kolkata city and the regions around form a great tourist hub. The
regions around Kolkata city contain a number of attractions and thus
appear as nice getaways from the city. All these regions are easily
